Today, on this 1st day of the month, April 2021, provides us with another chance to start at One (1). One is more than none! One is powerful! One can be the beginning that pushes you even closer towards your purpose. If you are reading these words and feeling like you are behind, be encouraged! There is still time! Just don’t give up! Take today to not look around at others, but to look into yourself. Have you given it your all? Have you set your goals, dreams, destination or purpose aside? Is it time to pick them back up and focus on you? Do you have a pile of tries that are just waiting for you to come back to? Did it get too difficult? You haven’t quit, but has the delay started to turn into a distant memory?
Many of us grew up hearing and I’m sure we’ve said this line a time or two, “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, try again.” What does the try, try, try mean to you? Are we really limited by the number of times we get to try? Have you placed a limitation on yourself without even knowing it? Did you really want it bad enough in the first place? Is it really worth it to you? These are questions we can ask ourselves when we face that fork in the road and we have to decide do we keep going or do we stop. Before you decide to go down a dead end road, take a moment and say to yourself, “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, try again.” Repeat it as many times as you need to! Really feel the words! Sometimes it takes me to look at myself in the mirror and speak those words directly to the inner Tara that is ready to give up. Whatever you call your inner you, look in the mirror and tell her or him, “If at first you don’t succeed try, try, try again!” Let your inner self know that it’s ok that you are not where you thought you were going to be or that you didn’t even try after the first fail. No one cares! Release those negative feelings and empower yourself with the understanding and acceptance that you can fail as many times as it takes you to get to your goal, your purpose, your destination, or make your dreams come true, because it’s just that…it’s yours! So stop judging yourself and try again!
In Aliyah’s Try Again song, she says “If at first you don’t succeed, then dust yourself off and try again, you can dust yourself off and try again, try again!” You hold the power to keep trying. When you fall down, get back up and dust yourself off and try again. Do it as many times as you need to in order to keep going. Be persistent and keep going! Persistence will pay off in the end. If you stopped now, does this mean you have given up on yourself? Have you let yourself down? We have to stay motivated and push through the rough times. Our persistence is going to guarantee that we get to the good times! Don’t miss out on your good times! You never know that one more try can make all the difference!
Be encouraged that you are not alone. There’s someone out there just like you struggling to reach their goals, dreams, destination, or purpose. Be encouraged to keep going! Finally, remember that on today, April 1st 2021, you are still here and there is still time! It may have taken you big leaps of faith to get to this day or just enough baby steps to keep you going to reach the first of the month; whatever you have done, know that you are closer to reaching your goals, dreams, destination or purpose than you were on yesterday! So take today and celebrate, because you have not been defeated! You have survived! You are winning! You are moving forward! You are victorious! Remember to repeat as often as you need to, “If at first you don’t succeed…try, try, try again!” Never give up on your purpose!
