WHAT IS POWER OF ONE? 

Power of One reinforces the belief that how we show up starts with taking care of oneself.  We must first understand that we possess the mental fortitude to influence situations, more importantly we have the power to influence our own mind, body, spirit and soul. It is beneficial to create daily healthy habits around self-care, self-love and self-empowerment. The power of one starts with self.  

YOU ARE IN CONTROL OF YOU!

  • Shift your mindset. Your thoughts, positive and negative, have the power to impact your day and those around you. 

  • Set your intentions through keeping a consistent morning ritual.

  • Add mediation to your routine. Remember, what we focus our attention on grows!

  • Throughout your day check in with your own needs. Do you need a break, do you need to eat, do you need water, do you need to stretch, do you need fresh air? Try to give yourself what you need. Don’t go through an entire day with checking on yourself!   

  • Replace the unhealthy habits with a positive one, this means replacing negative thoughts!

  • Learn to set boundaries. If someone's energy is bothering you, walk away or find a way to get space. 

  • Be aware of how transference of emotions can lead to creating toxic environments intentionally and unintentionally. Beware of what you bring as well as what you take with you.

  • Be aware of how secondary trauma, burn out, doing too much impacts the overall health of your mind, body, spirit and soul.
    Ending your day with gratitude is a way to help you focus on the present things that are going well in your life.

  • Create a plan for when you are not feeling empowered that can carry you through. Jot down your favorite meal someone can pick up for you. Create a playlist with your favorite pick me up songs, keep a couple of affirmations nearby, do what makes you feel your best. 

 

SELF-CARE is the process of taking care of oneself with behaviors that promote health and active management of illness when it occurs. Individuals who engage in some form of self-care daily with morning routines, food choices, exercise, sleep, mental health support, and taking time for themselves as individuals are often happier, more successful, and more present.
